Takmak
Takmak is small hill fort on the Ahmedabad highway. Reach village Sakwar from Virar or Vasai by bus/Ricksaw/Tum-tum. You find an easy but steep track through thick forest, reaching two flat tops with little strengthening.
BhimaShankar
Bhimashankar is at a height of 3250 feet. Karjat is the nearest station from which bus for Khandas can be caught and proceed further. There are two ways to go from here, Via Shidi Ghat and Via Ganesh Ghat .
Nane ghat
Naneghat denotes ancient trade route which joined the Ghat areas of Shivneri, Junnar to the coastal areas. In ancient times every trader who used this route had to pay some fare for travel.
Rajmachi
Raajmaachi is located amidst the Western Ghats in the Lonavala Karjat belt. Raajmaachi is not a fort as many of you readers may have accepted. Raajmaachi is a village which serves as a base for 2 forts Manoranjan and Shreevardhan.
Karnala Fort
Karnala is situated about 12 km from Panvel. Karnala fort actually is a part of "Karnala Bird Sanctuary" which hosts varirty of birds. That is a different part that we could not even locate a crow in the wild. But it gives you a glance of dense forest.
Dhak Bahiri
To the east of Karjat and in the opposite to the Rajmachi lies this trek with thrilling rock patch. Last half n hour is most difficult and yet trilling, after this patch you will land into the caves and Bhairoba temple. One can see spectacular view from caves.
Kori Gad
Korigad is small and most simple trek in Sahyadri region. One can start trekking with this trek, it has few rock steps to reach at top. Nice beautiful view of amby valley can be seen from the fort. But it hurts to see that fort is also getting encroach.
Lohgad
Lohgad is situated about 5 Km. from Malavali station. First one should reach Lonavala by any Central-Southern mail/express, catch a local train from Lonavala to Malavali. From Malavali one can catch a rickshaw to Bhaje village. 1½ hours walk from Bhaje will lead to Lohgadwadi.15 min walk from Lohgadwadi will take you to the top.
Peb Fort
Peb fort is 5km off Neral station, just beside the famous Matheran hill station. The 460 m high peak is one of the peaks that you can enjoy without getting tired. Its very easy yet one of the untouched trek routes. Peb is one of the several forts built by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Malshej Ghat
Malshej Ghat has become very famous picnic spot, yes picnic spot. Its nice and easy trek route in Kasara region and it is easily accessible from Mumbai & Pune by road and that is why it has become picnic spot.
Chanderi
Chanderi trek is long trail, one who has done few treks in past only those should plan for this trek. Its long trail but very enjoyable with lot of waterfalls in between (only in monsoon season) and dense forest. People who are interested in medicinal plants will enjoy the most, as there are lots of medicinal plants available in this region.
Tandulwadi
There are few treks in western line and Tandulwadi fort is one of them. Its in Palghar region and nearest railway station is Safale. Its one day trek and can be visited anytime but try to avoid in summer. There are 3 ways to go on top.
Valley OF Flowers
The Valley of Flowers National Park (87.50 km2, lat 30° 41' - 30° 48'N and long 79° 33' - 79° 46'E) is included in the world heritage site- Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. Its altitude ranges from 3,200 m to 6,675m which provides a great diversity of landscape and microhabitats.
Trek to Dalhousie
