Increasing traffic, bad roads, and government not taking any step doing anything towards pollution is what we always talk about…..
We have all the reasons to run from these situations; even though we all know that we need to take it very seriously…It has been a topic of discussion "Global Warming".
What we are doing for this? What I am doing for this? Are we just blaming government or people or vehicles on the road? But what have we planned to do towards this situation on our own? How many of them have we implemented in real life?
Well, I have also been thinking about it and had never taken any solid action. I thought of taking an action and thanks to my friend for inspiring me and giving me a boost to take this step ahead. Yes, I have started going to office on my bicycle!!!
This inspiration came from a friend Rupali Nehete and her group, who decided to go to Pakistan from Mumbai on cycle to spread a world of peace & friendship. She covered a span of 2000 km from Panvel to Wagha border as they didn't get visa for Pakistan. This gave me a link to think “Would it be great to cycle daily to my office, when she can cycle up to Wagha border, why can’t I make it to the office every day? “ As this was a drive totally free of pollution, this inspired me to do the same locally.
This is when I decided and went ahead to buy a cycle for me. Now, I ought to show off on my way to office, so I got this bike(cycle), which has 21 gears, full Aluminum body, double shock absorbers, disk breaks and a very stylish look. I got "Hero Octane" mountain bike for myself.
My parents were not as happy about it as, I am working as a Manager in MNC and riding a cycle is somewhere mismatching. Even though, I was very excited and happy too.
Earlier, I would take two buses to reach my office and spend more than an hour. But thank god that I shifted close to my office and now I take 20 mints to reach office. If I take an auto rickshaw then it’s almost the same or more time, but with my cycle I save time, money and more over I enjoy being more fit. My contribution towards preventing pollution goes everyday and have almost inspired people driving their own vehicles to learn. People were amazed looking at a chap dressed in formals and driving a cycle on roads; they would literally jump out of the car and want to take a look at the bike, then I would give my set of GYAAN to them over pollution and nature conservation etc. My fitness levels have gone high with this activity and it’s very apparent my colleagues envy it… |
